EVENT: Just a little more faith

Hey Princess,

“Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” – Matthew 21:21

This past Saturday, I attended the Beauty For Ashes Women’s Conference, which was blessed and refreshing for the soul.

The 19th edition of this annual event featured international speaker, author and teacher, Ellie Lafaro, whose sharing was filled with wisdom, and warm-hearted humour. She spoke on Forgiveness, Hearing from God; Waiting on God and; Trusting in God.

Another gem to the conference was the talented music group, Point of Grace, who blessed the attendees with their beautiful voices and personal testimonies.

Something that particularly stuck out for me was the line from one of their songs entitled, What I Already Know, which says,

“…all I really need is just a little more faith
To believe what I already know.”

The beauty of these words truly spoke to me as I mused over it.

As princesses, we are filled with a fair amount of knowledge of the promises and truths of our King.

We know that He loves us; that He will never forsake us; that we can do all things through Him who gives us strength and the list is endless.

Somehow doubt takes over and robs us of the peace and joy that we are meant to bask in because of who we belong to.

We need to have faith.  Just because you don’t see things immediately, doesn’t mean He is not at work in your life. Sometimes we hope for things and wait on God, only to find that we lose faith. Faith is being sure of the things we hope for, and being certain of the things we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1).

Each day, ask God to increase your faith of things that you already know.

Shine

Hey Princess,

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16

Each princess faces moments in her life where she feels as though she is surrounded by darkness.

She feels alone, lost and without hope.

Her tunnel feels never ending.

She wonders when someone will restore the power, turn on the lights.

She longs for that warmth on her face.

Many know she’s there, but even a match is too much.

But then there’s you.

A light.

A beam of hope.

Your light is all she needs to be ignited.

Let the flame within your heart spread like a wildfire to hers.

We ignite and He sets ablaze.

Shine!

You never know who you ignite if you just shine!

There’s a message in helping others

Hey Princess,

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)

I recently received a phone call from a friend asking me to help someone who needed some encouragement and help with fashion. My initial response was, “Is this a prank?” I thought, “Me? Fashion? You must be mistaken.”

I don’t consider myself completely fashion forward, however I do always take pride in my appearance. Through much deliberation, I decided to meet the lady and take it from there. For the purpose of this post lets call her Princess.

Once the call ended many thoughts ran through my mind. I admired that my friend took interest in trying to help Princess. Also, I thought  how to proceed with this matter as I am hardly an expert in this. I decided to let God guide me as He wouldn’t have brought this opportunity about if He didn’t trust I could do it.

Princess and I met and we chatted about certain things. I shared some thoughts with her and encouraged her. We then decided to take to the shopping mall to revive her cupboard. (We started with the inside and then proceeded to the outside.)

Throughout this experience it may seem as though I was the one who was helping her, but in essence I  learned through this experience.

Here is a list of 5 things I learned:

1. There are no such things as coincidences

It was no coincidence that I received that phone call from my friend. God often bring things along our path to communicate a message or to encourage us. Although we should not just accept whatever comes along our path,  we should ask Him for wisdom and guidance.

2. Its never too late for a new beginning.

The fact that Princess was willing to make a few changes in her life, proves to us that as long as we breathing, we can make changes to improve our lives.

3. Change should come from within.

Although the intervention of others influenced Princess’ decision in some way, ultimately the decision all came down to her. She could have declined any help and decided not make any changes, but she was willing to make changes. She took active steps to change.

4. Little by little.

Embracing this change will not happen over night. There may be days when you feel like giving up. You should just realise that you need to keep at it and remember why you decided to change in the first place. Have patience, trust the process.

5. We encourage ourselves through helping others.

The most important thing I learned is that when you help others, they too help you. Princess made me realise the importance of taking a stand, getting rid of the old and embracing the new. Her willingness and dedication to making a change motivate me to adopt that attitude towards things in life.

God can speak to us through other people. It costs nothing to put a smile on someone’s face.

Let us always seek to show others love and help where we can.

Dear Mother

To all the mothers and those with the heart of a mother,

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” – Proverbs 31:26-27

Today we honour, bless and celebrate you!

Welcome to today

Hey Princess,

“15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like ignorant people, but like wise people. 16 Make good use of every opportunity you have, because these are evil days. 17 Don’t be fools, then, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do. “

– Ephesians 5:15-17

Welcome to today!

A brand new day that you have lived to see.

You have taken a breath today.

That breath is a symbol.

A symbol of hope, a sign that it ain’t over yet.

Your story is still being written.

Your fate could have been different, but you’re still here.

He is still at work in you.

He is not done with you yet!

Take a minute to think that no matter what I feel now,

I have an opportunity to begin again.

Each breath brings you closer to death,

but it also takes you to your destiny.

Don’t waste time on the invaluable.

Tap into your purpose and passion

Inhale the blessings He has given you.

Exhale your talents to bless others

Breath is hope.

Each breath is an opportunity to begin again.
